I Love Lake County Song Search Ultimate Grand Prize Winner

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Dylan Kroll of Waukegan was announced as Visit Lake County’s ‘I Love Lake County Song Search Grand Prize Winner on Thursday evening at Mickey Finn’s Brewery. This award was deliberated and selected by an esteemed panel of Lake County judges.

Kroll performed his song ‘Lake County, the Bounty of Illinois,’ and other songs as he also won the competition’s Fan Vote portion.

Kroll has an extensive background in music. Complementing his parents’ strong influence on him musically, Kroll graduated from Warren Township High School in Gurnee and College of Lake County in Grayslake studying music. The Waukegan resident also was the seasoned lead singer in Six Flags Great America’s a capella group, Da Offbeats for four years. While pursuing a career in music, Kroll also provides his time to his family-owned Waukegan farm specializing in pumpkin harvesting.

In addition to arranging the entire song on his own, the fourth-generation Lake County dweller showcased his singing skills by providing 20-of-23 vocal tracks on, ‘Lake County, the Bounty of Illinois.’

“I’m honored to receive this award,” Kroll said in front of a crowd of supporters at Mickey Finn’s. “I put a lot of time and effort into the song, so it’s great to be recognized by the judges.”

The top four entries selected by a panel of judges from the Lake County music scene were Kroll, Diamond Z (Marcus Ziegler) of Libertyville, Rory Tyer Band (Rory Tyer, Brian Herman, Danny Olmeda, Dave Bedell, Dave Verlee and Dave DeRose) of Libertyville and The Band Squared (Griff Johnson) of Grayslake.

The next step for Kroll is a professional recording of his winning song and a music video portraying Lake County. Kroll will also be a featured live performer at various Lake County summer & fall festivals including Long Grove Strawberry Fest, Scoop Waukegan and Taste of Lincolnshire.

Visit Lake County plans to utilize the song for prospective marketing and promotional initiatives and also hope to bolster their future outreach in the music community.

“We are extremely proud with how the Song Search turned out,” said Anthony Haag, Visit Lake County Director of Marketing. “We received great submissions and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of songs. It was an interesting process to see how the fans voted and what the panel of judges thought of the songs. We look forward to working with Dylan to create and promote a summer music video for residents and visitors coming to Lake County.”
