KEYLIME COVE EMPLOYEE WINS STATE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY AWARD
Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association Honors KeyLime Cove Crewmembers for Outstanding Service
Gurnee, IL (January 2, 2014) — KeyLime Cove, the popular Chicagoland Indoor Waterpark Resort, is proud to announce two “crewmembers” have been honored by the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association (IHLA) for their outstanding work. At its 2013 Stars of the Industry awards luncheon on December 19, IHLA honored the best of Illinois’ 35,000 hospitality workers at the 16th annual event. Awards were given in 14 categories, and two employees from KeyLime Cove were
recognized for their outstanding service and leadership. Furthermore, KeyLime Cove was awarded the Community Service Award.
Maricarmen Nunez was named “Star of the Industry” and selected as the state of Illinois’ “Frontline Supervisor of the Year” for best representing the service and spirit of the lodging industry, and
performing the extra service that distinguishes her from other industry professionals. She has been with KeyLime Cove since the property opened in 2008 and has helped train many of the resort’s crewmembers. Furthermore, Jason Campbell was also honored as the regional winner for “Bellstaff
Employee of the Year” in recognition of his leadership and commitment to his staff and outstanding guest service.
In presenting the awards, IHLA President and CEO Marc J. Gordon said Nunez and Campbell are known for their dedicated guest service and hard work. Because of employees like these, Gordon
said that more than 100 million domestic visitors and 1.4 million international visitors choose to
spend time in Illinois every year, spending about $87 million each and every day with Illinois businesses. One in 10 jobs in Illinois is directly or indirectly supported by travel and tourism.
“I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our 500 employees that do their respective jobs so diligently to make KeyLime Cove such a great family destination,” said Dale McFarland, CEO and President of Veracity Hospitality, management company for KeyLime Cove and 2009 “Hotelier of the Year” recipient. “It’s great to see these ‘Stars’ recognized in such a high-profile way.”
The American Hotel & Lodging Association National Stars of the Industry award ceremony will take place in April in Washington D.C. Nunez will represent the State of Illinois as Frontline Supervisor of the Year and KeyLime Cove as Illinois’ Community Service Leader.
