The final CLC jazz concert of the season opens with the Tuesday Night Ensemble with works composed by Count Basie, Glen Miller, Henry Mancini, Alan Baylock and Ahmad Jamal, concluding with the Tonight Show Big Band arrangement of Sing, Sing, Sing.
Composed of CLC students and community members and directed by Joe Ott, the Tuesday night jazz ensemble focuses on performing charts from the Jazz Standards to more contemporary pieces to offer the full range of music from the Big Band repertoire.
The Monday Night Jazz Ensemble closes the show with Come Sunday, composed by Duke Ellington, followed by Exactly Like This by Tom Kubis, My Old Flame, arranged by Marty Paich, Burrito Borracho byJohnny Richards, A Cool Shade of Blue by Henry Mancini and Conspiracy Theory by Mike Tomaro. The ensemble features seasoned players, experienced teachers and professional musicians. They perform challenging jazz music and play with top visiting musicians and composers.
