In a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity, the 34th annual Black History Celebration at Zion-Benton Township High School promises an enriching experience for attendees of all ages. This event honors the profound contributions of African Americans to the arts, music, literature and cultural movements. The event will showcase the richness and diversity of African American artistic expression while fostering a sense of community and appreciation for Black heritage. In addition to the cultural festivities, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch provided by the organizers. Suds enthusiasts and beach lovers alike are gearing up for the ninth annual Lake County Craft Beer Festival. This year, the theme is a Beach Bash, so get ready to trade your winter blues for sun, sand and a drink in your hand. The Grayslake event boasts a diverse selection of local, regional and national breweries, distilleries and wineries serving up their specialty and seasonal brews. Live music, delicious food vendors and exciting games and entertainment – including an escape room, axe throwing, giant beer pong, cornhole and a Beach Bash costume contest – will keep you entertained throughout the evening. Explore an extensive selection of craft beers and other adult beverages from the Lake County Libation Trail such as 9th Hour Brewing, Buffalo Creek Brewing, Ravinia Brewing Co., Glunz Family Winery and Cellars and more. Grab your tickets, put on your best beach attire, and get ready for a day of seaside fun and fantastic brews! Festival-goers can receive a special room rate at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Mundelein at $109 with the code LCF that includes breakfast for two.  The Lake County Craft Beer Festival is also apart of Lake County Flavor Festival running through February 29, as visitors can check-in for phenomenal prizes. Despite the lack of ice this year, the spirit of winter is alive and well in Wauconda! The annual Wauconda WinterFest offers a full day of fun activities for all ages. Kick off your experience with the Character Lunch at Lindy's Landing where kids can meet their favorite TV characters from shows like “Paw Patrol” and “Bluey” and enjoy a delicious meal with the family. Throughout the day, live music fills the air, with sets from Gritman & Moran and Gina Gonzalez providing the soundtrack for your winter celebration. From interactive games to energetic tunes, keep the kids entertained at the Kid Zone featuring DJ Bob in the Pavilion. Don’t forget the annual Soup Smackdown and cast your vote for the most delicious soup in town. Try your luck at the Moose Lodge Meat Raffle with drawings, proceeds from the raffle benefit the Wauconda Moose Lodge no. 1969. 4. Fox Lake Polar Plunge at Lakefront Park in Fox Lake

The annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge is set to make a splash at Fox Lake’s Lakefront Park, inviting participants to brave the icy waters and raise funds in support of the Special Olympics. The day kicks off with onsite registration, then the moment of truth arrives as participants gather at Lakefront Park to take the plunge together. Proceeds from the Polar Plunge will go directly to benefit Special Olympics Illinois, an organization dedicated to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Registration includes a sweatshirt, polar packet and wrist band if you raise a minimum $100. So, gather your courage, bundle up, and prepare to make a splash for a purpose at the Annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Dive in and make a difference!
